Eyguro

The eyguros are basically just eggs, so they require a special suit to move around. I highly doubt that they're very tasty, though.

Name: Eyguros
Home Planet: Wuindar
Known For: Farming
General Life Span: Around 90 years
General Height: Seem to be from small to human sized
General Weight: Rather light

Description: There is a picture to the right. The egg-thing is the eyguro, and the rest is the suit. The larger things at the end of its arms are suction cups, and the smaller things on the underside of the arms are suction pads. The suction cups can be folded when the eyguro needs to properly grab something. Eyguros are more like fish eggs than they are bird eggs.

Possible Skin Colors: Unknown

Species Type: Jellyfish, since they were originally nleej eggs
Skeletal Type: None (Invertebrate?)

Friends (Generally): Pen-Phormen (mostly as trading partners), Nleej
Enemies (Generally): Unknown

Home Planet Info: There are a lot of farms on Wuindar, since agriculture is the eyguros’ main economic activity. That seems sort of odd for a species that requires a body suit to move.

Spoken Language: Galactic Standard and Rakuri, a language of cracking noises.
Written Language: Galactic Standard and a written version of Rakuri. The written version consists almost entirely of lines.
Miscellaneous Language: None

Strengths:

  • Body suits allows them to levitate
  • Body suits compensate for the gravity around them, as long as the gravity isn't extremely high
  • Can stay underwater longer than most other land species

Weaknesses:

  • Relatively fragile
  • Somewhat bad depth perception
  • Immobile without the body suit

Likes (Generally): Unknown
Dislikes (Generally): People asking how they reproduce
Fears (Generally): Hard impacts, Boiling water

History:
The eyguros are the result of medical treatment gone wrong. Maurigless Wuinslen tried to alter her eggs so they wouldn’t die very soon, but instead caused the egg and the baby to merge into one being. Maurigless (and/or her husband) tried to make it up to the eyguros by giving them special body suits enabling them to move. The eyguros don’t seem to mind this too much, since they have never been anything else (that they can remember). In fact, they treat themselves as their own species, coming up with their own language and colonizing a planet in their name. They've even learned how to make their own body suits based on the ones Maurigless gave.

Apparently, the modifications allow them to live on land. Also, this whole story raises questions about how they reproduce and whether it would be ok for the first eyguros to do so. However they do it, they keep it a secret.

Other Info:
Body Suit – Everything that isn’t the “egg” is some sort of organic body suit they use to get around. The darker blue things on the arms of the suit are suction pads used to help pick things up.

Rumors – Because they don’t have a conventional body, members of other species assume that they are super-intelligent or “super beings”. A lot of them are surprised when they find out that this isn’t (necessarily) the case.

Eye – Their eye is used for both seeing and eating, oddly enough. This means they shove food through their eye. Some of them eat quickly so they don’t get caught blind sighted while eating.

Breathing – Their shell lets air in and out. They can control this, and this is pretty much how they breathe.

Growth – The first eyguros started off as normal-sized nleej eggs. After the mishap that made them a new species, they started growing larger as they got older. Newer eyguros grow in pretty much the same way.
